I replaced my own manufacture band guides with Cooks flanged guides and I' am happy with their operation. My mill is power feed but I do walk along to stop it and gig back at the end. If you put a majic marker line on the back of the flanged guide you can easily tell if it is slowing down in the cut indicating your band is starting to dive and you can take corrective action like slowing the feed. Kinda like the strobe effect. Frank C.

The guides on our mill must be smaller or turn faster than the guide rollers on your mill. They can't be seen from where I stand and saw anyway.   I do rely on listing for the back of rubbing aginst the shoulder.   I have put a splash of yellow paint on a roller to double check to see if it was turning properly turning - having Mary watch while saving.

As Bibbs said it would be tough to see the mark from the "command post" but us walkers or pushers are right in the neighborhood and can watch the back of the guide. It gives a pretty good indication of what the band is doing you come into a large knot and sometimes see the guide slow down. Frank C.

Glad to hear you went with the Cook guides. Many folks have retrofittted to the cooks guides including my friend Ross Keddle up in Michigan. Of course I have had them since day one on my Cooks mill. I did replace them after 9 years..............
