wife says this year not flying anywhere. we are renting a motorhome and going on tour for a week. it all started out bad then went downhill from there. it was to be delivered here at 4pm last friday. at 4:45 she calls the dealer they dont answer. at 7:30 it arrives. dosent look to bad. 32' coachman on a e450 ford. i did stop world war 3 from happening. someone was pretty mad. so i look it over its a 2011 30k miles right front tire is junk. i say broken belt strange wear pattern. the kid that brought it says its fine . so off we headed for new brunswick then around the gaspe. front tire pounding steering wheel shaking. i didnt dare say a word about it. things are looking up made it 95 to lincoln then on to vanceboro where i found a nice woods road and about a mile in was a fine gravel pit perfect. next morning there were bear sign.  if any interest i can continue with the rest of the story

I was really hoping that after your flat tire incident in our fair city the rest of your vacation was flawless.  It was unfortunate that you called looking for help when I was working without phone reception.  Would have loved to be able to help out.

Where else did you go?
Lots of toys for working in the bush

ken the guy at miller tire took care of us so i tipped him 20. ron no she is not driving it. i told her it was too big and she could not drive. crossing into nb was easy. we do have passports that helps. by now the tire really thumping. so we find canadian tire in fredericton. they were well i wont say. was told they didnt have time to mount 1 tire they were having an open house the next day. he says go across the road to miatis. this guy is from india i cant understand him  or he me. finally he hands me the list of all the tires he has. no 225 75 16. finally get the rv dealer we rented it from on the phone. he says go to walmart. they have a tire made in china...yuk. but they will not mount it. we dont work on motorhomes. wouldnt let me use there jack or air wrench either. finally we get the michelin truck tire dealer road service guy on the phone. he had one put it on all is good except......wheel bearing is loose but only a little

now we are off for the miramichi. trying to find a campground not all ways easy and the garmin gps. just as i was going to toss it out the window she caught me. the gps was less than helpful a lot of the time. so here we are riding back an forth thru town looking for the right restaurant. this thing is a truck it belongs at a truck stop. its 33ft long it wont fit. we find the campground right on the water $33. and my boy [16]finds some cute french girls that dont speak english an they also think maine is part of canada......maybe we should be. next stop for the nite   perce and the perce rock. look it up its impressive. on the way into town there is a dui check. the cop speaks french i dont all is well. this camp ground was on the water next to the rock. nice place. i was surprised at how built up the gaspe is and how big the mountains are . we went up to the top of the first him out of town then came back down into town. with it in tow haul the motor was turning 5500rpm but it held it back. some hills were marked 14% some were steeper

What kind of rent do they get for a 32' Coachman for a week?
Enough for some good tires and maintenance, I'd think.

next nite was on the north shore cold rain hail lots of wind. there must be a stud mill on the north east end. saw wood headed that way and a lot of chip and lumber trucks. and a brand new valmet fowarder on a lowbed. a lot of motorcycles on the rd. harleys goldwings and bmw and a surprising number of brp spyders. heading west you leave the mountains and it turns to cow farms lots of them. the boss wanted an upscale campground with a spar.so off we go to lake pohenegamook. it boarders escort station maine. it was open sorta of. i think some of the signs on the buildings said posted keep out. i think they were on there way out of bussiness. we didnt stay. funny thing is a mile away was the maine wilderness yet we were in a pretty big town in quebec. just down the road there were at least 20 skidders parked in a row. looked they had been there for yrs. 6 big international skidders the rest timberjacks

at 5 am we said lets go home. headed east on the 185 they were building a new road. i will say when they build roads they go all out. i lost count of the excavators working on that job. 50? 75? at least 30 or more dozers and that many haul trucks plus the dump trucks. must have been 10 miles of road they were building. not paving building from scratch. the last highlite of the trip. was the drag race some where in the county on rt 1. i pulled over into the slow lane when i saw a gmc towing a smaller 5th wheel coming up behind me. had to find out how the v10 stood up to a dmax with the big chrome exhaust pipe. the dmax will out pull the v10 but not by as much as you might think. and the only live moose we saw was at the lincoln exit coming home. as far as gas millage 9 to 10. the trip was 1422 miles

Sounds like a good time and good places to see.  We love to go North, tho it does not happen very often.  Too many beautiful places to see and stay within a couple of hours.  Heck I love to stay right at my house too, so no complaints.
It's the going that counts not the distance!

yesterday the rv dealer comes to get the rv. i had backed it in next to one of the plow trucks. there was plenty of room as long as they drive straight ahead for the first 10ft. i wasnt here to see the wreck. looks like they turned as soon as he put it in drive. they didnt leave any note or call. wife sent them pictures of it and called them. didnt want them to try and blame me for it

Yeah the Gaspe has been settled a long time. I think the town of Ramouske is over 300 years old. ;) In Gaspe, there  is a monument to Jacques Cartier. You didn't get to the Reford Gardens? It's an old fishing lodge of a Scottish born railroad tycoon (George Stephen), whose niece turned it into gardens. Most people probably never heard tell of it. :D In French it is named something different.... Jardins de Métis.

I'm one to travel light, and that includes a light vehicle and nothing towed. :D
