Peter,Years ago i used to send my hemlock logs to Barry Kelley,White Mt Lumber in Berlin, Was around $170 per M, 20 footers were $200,but that was back around 2005. He was a good guy to deal with, and we actually loaded a bunch of his lumber trailers on the backhaul ,so no trucking involved. Don

I don't know of any mills that would be appealing to someone from NH. I live on the eastern edge of Maine. The mill down the road from me (small operation) pays about $235/mbf. I sell about 8,000 cords of hemlock logs, studwood, and pulp every year, only to big consumers. Their log prices aren't that far off the local guy. Studwood and pulpwood are buy the ton, and pretty close in price (to eachother). I hate hemlock.
Trees are good.

I see it for $89/cord pulp and $108/cord studs at Chester, Maine $US. $270/mbf in NB at Marwood in Harvey $CDN. Not a big money maker up here.

Western hemlock I would be curious as to what they are paying now. It just seems to be a better wood. See it used in moldings and trim. Never seen eastern hemlock used much for anything when you can get spruce instead. I do know a lot of our hemlock goes to Maine mills. I've got eastern hemlock here and it's about impossible to drive a nail in it without splitting or shattering the board.  ::)

We only have about 20 hemlock trees in the state of MN, so I'm out of the loop on that stuff :D
