Tis the season for festivities, parades, partying, and getting drunk generally from Mobile, Al. (the location of the first recorded Mardi Gras parade) to San Diego, Tx. and all places in between.  Arguably, the towns in and around New Orleans are the most famous with the entire towns being decorated with purple, gold, & green.

It all began with religious celebrations and maybe there are still some, but the obvious is far from religious.  Thankfully in most places, the theme is fun filled.

A good friend of mine (a game Warden) went to Marty Gra ( ;D) once........he got his wallet picked with $920.00 in it. :D :D :D
We laugh about it now....but he won't go back and I'll probably never go.
However, before my Mom passed, she and my Dad went with some friends and had a blast.  8)

I have no pictures but I would recommend Googling "videos of Mardi Gras", etc for a peek at some of the history and activities.

Today is "Fat Tuesday".   smiley_jester smiley_crown_grin  smiley_mad_crazy  smiley_hellow_im_here

Pat plans to make us a "King Cake" today or maybe it will be "King Cup Cakes".   That would be a new twist, but there are only two of us here.  :D

New Orleans will have a cold record breaking 45° today for the main parades.  That will be tough because some of them do not wear much clothing.  :o  And then you have the "hang outs" on the balcony's.  They usually don't have much on either.   ;D

That plus the rain today.  Yuck.   :-\
