So sorry Steve. My 14 year old Lab/Golden mix is laying next to me right now. We are thinking about having her put down in a couple weeks. Bowl incontinence, falls down on slippery floors, can't get off the floor by herself most of the time, and has been falling down on any inclines in the yard. She had her rear right leg ACL repaired 5 years ago, and that leg is barely usable. That's her sitting behind the wheel of my van under my name. I've been grieving for weeks about it already, so have a lot of sympathy for you.
You don't need nearly that big of a piece of wood for the cremation urn. According to a pet cremation urn calculator on line, a 100 pound dog needs about 100 cubic inches, or about 7 cups capacity. A 5" cube gets you pretty close. I made one for my daughter, and used 1 1/2" pvc fittings for the threads. I bought the male and female threaded fittings, then trimmed and fit female threads inside the vessel and male threads over a tenon on a mushroom shaped lid. Epoxy used for gluing the threads to the wood, it worked out great!

It's always a sad story, no matter how it happens.

Dogs are just so dedicated to their "masters" that there is no truer love or devotion.

Really sorry to hear the news Steve.

I need that big a piece because I have to make two.
My room mate's dog got trampled by her horse and he had to be put down.
2 dogs one 16 years old and the other 10 both dead in 4 days.
Her favorite cat has also disappeared.
I just can't believe it.....
Why not just 1 pain free day?

I can't either.  :(
Our cat,got at the same time as Boo-Boo has disappeared. Have not seen him for 5 days now. Common to be gone for 2,once in a while 3,but never more than 4. He is 13 years old, been fixed and have lived more outdoors than inside. Does not look good here.

Steve, my condolences to both you and your roomie.
I remember how we felt for each of the pets we have lost over the years.  Each one was an individual that could not be replaced.  Our current lab, Jette, is as unique as any of the others but we still miss them all.
Linnea and I are thinking of you and yours this day.

My thoughts and prayers are going your way Steve.  Nothing can replace Rhino for sure but we are praying for better days to be on their way.

I got a message wondering if I had missed this topic. I had not.  No fear, Steve and I are as close of friends as always. We have red phones with bat phone ringers for when ever we need to reach each other.  :)

Rhino was a great dog. I know what a lose this is for my friend simply by realizing that Icey is almost 8 years old already and I just can't imagine or bare to think about her not being around some day.
I can change my profile okay. No errors. If you can,t remove all the extra info in other fields and try.

OhOh!  Someone is keeping track of who responds?  I'm in trouble.  :snowball:

I miss Rhino too, as she wasn't in the truck yesterday at lunch. Steve is doing ok, and we had a good lunch.
