Yep its an old fashion winter for sure. We haven't had quite as much snow as up in Lac La Belle at Mt. Bohemia but our 140 inches is plenty enough for me.

WOW!!! That is some snowfall. I'm only about 45 minutes from Sugarloaf. Have no idea how much they got. Maybe 3 feet? Guessing.

We're not up ta them depths either, but we're far enough away from da lake dat da temps are nuts. Our Fire Dept. had a structure fire call at 1:45 this morning. -28° and 12 MPH Northerly winds, not a fun time.  :(

I'm only about 1/4 mile from the lake so until it freezes over our temperatures are much more "mild" than inland. I wake up every morning and turn on the radio and listen to the weather around the west end because it makes me feel much better about our temps here, like this morning is was -4° and just 30 miles inland it was -24°.

Downside to being close to the lake is constant lake effect snow.

We're on high ground close enough to Lake Michigan that our temps are moderated.  Six miles east in town it was -18.  We were a balmy -5.  But we're far enough way from the lake that we get a good doses of lake snow that those closer and farther away don't get.  I don't know what out total here is.  It's more than we've had in long time.  A few days ago Gaylord was at 74 or so inches and the avg for that date was 35 or so.  A good old fashioned winter for sure.  Next week is supposed to be cold again after we see mid to upper twenties for the weekend.

Interesting  - Ski hills out west here in BC and Washington state are having shortage of snow. Especialy at the lower elevations.  Some hills have about 20-50 % of usual snow at theis time of year. Hills with snow making appear less effected.

Yep, hardly any snow here. The ski hill opened up a new mountain this summer, new lift and 1000+ extra acres of skiing. The new lift is officially open but the skiing sucks. Stumps poking through everywhere.

We had more snow in the last half of November than we did in all of December. Snowpack is about 20% of normal.

If you guys in the east want to send any this way, it would be appreciated.

There's a good 3 feet in front of my old grainery/shed next door here. But we are not near record snow. This is just a regular winter here. It's -20F right now. 2007-2008 we had a lot more snow by now. But 3 feet by Christmas is not rare. We just had a lot of delayed snows for a few years into January in the last decade. The 70's were terrible years for fall rain and heavy winter snow and awful winter wind. I see nothing out of ordinary here. ;D

Weatherman is calling for cold temps ( here that is below freezing ) until Saturday when we are expecting about 12 inches of snow to go with the 6 already on the ground. It will then get bitter cold highs of 0 or maybe even a little below. A few nights we could even see 15 to 20 below. Coldest temps in about 20 years. Also had lots more snow than normal for an average year.

We got 2 cm last night -- just under an inch.  There's 5 to 10 cm predicted for tonight (2-4 inches) but they've been predicting that every few days and it's usually less than 1 cm.

The skiers are very unhappy. So are the ski hill owners. So are the motel owners.

I remember in Prince Rupert they built a ski lodge and runs and never had any snow to use it. :D ;)
