I have a CB E-classic 2400 I've been burning for three years.  I've noticed during my last few cleanouts that I have a couple cracks that have formed on the inside of the firebox by the intake air holes on each side.  I thought I remember a topic about this in the past but cant seem to find it.   Anybody here know how serious of a problem this is?

I know of three E2400 owners with cracks in the same place as yours.  Of the three, two had them show up in the first season and none have had any other trouble with the crack spreading or causing leaks.  All of the stoves were installed in late 2010 and none of these owners really pay much attention to maintenance or proper operation.  I recall reading on FF that others who had the cracks drilling relief holes at the ends of the crack(s) near the weld with the firebox.  If done correctly, it would help with thermal stresses but I'd make a call to CB and get their opinion/advice before making any permanent changes.   This issue prompted a redesign of the air passage. The part that is prone to cracking is no longer permanently attached and can now expand and contract independently of the firebox.  They will know exactly what you are talking about when you mention it.
