We had our bid opening today (County forest).  Aspen pulp went for $68/cd on a couple of sales.  Weighted ave for Aspen was $55/cd on all the sales.  Hardwood pulp was around $53/cd ave.  Highest I've seen in my 22 years.  The long hard winter has the mills desperate for wood and the prices show it.

That seems average if my math is right. 68$ cord= 20$ a ton

I don't understand how the stumpage get this high, if the mills aren't paying more delivered. A lot of times when the price gets jacked that high, the mills are buying the stumpage themselves.

Straight popple pulp pays well right now. Not worth cutting the logs out of.

That holds true up here most of the time too- sometimes if the pulp mills are getting full we tend to sort more logs, just for another outlet.

Over here in northern mn,the local osb mill is only paying 67.38 per cord for aspen in the 0 to 30 mile zone.Mind you that's 100 inch wood delivered to their yard.

That must be Norboard, I had heard they don't pay very well. They must be paying some outfits more than that, that price barely covers harvesting and trucking, let alo e stumpage.
