The older I get I wish my body could Re-Gen.

backwoods sawyer

At the production mill we used an agitator in those big plastic totes with a airless spayer to coat the ends of the units and to spray the company logo on the unit (hang a metal cut out and spray, next)

The least efective I have used is a water style fire exstinguisher with large nozzel used to coat each beam as it was milled (messy and waistfull.

I like the big fat brush that holds a lot and slop it on spred around slop more on spred around give it a couple coats. I like to use a gallon coffee can so you can pour only what you will use. Use a garden hose with good presure to clean up the can and brush after each use I guess that comes from being the brush boy for a paint crew back when min wage had gone up to $3.10 hr  ;)

A bowl turner freind buys it by the five gallon bucket then devides off into two liter bottles for longer shelf life and less contamination.

like grease in a grease gun it don't do any good unless it gets used ;D
