The thread below about how often to change your boiler water made me realize how little I know about treating the water.

Do you use the rust inhibitor with water or do you also use it with antifreeze?

How do you "test" the water to see if you need to add more rust inhibitor?

If you have rust inhibitor in your water, when you need to drain it can you just drain it on the ground like you would if it were water or do you have to catch it and figure out how to dispose of it?

Joe, water around the country varies widely you need to ask locally. A reputable outdoor boiler co. is a good place to start if he's local. PH is the biggie ,when I ran the high pressure boiler at the mill  I added soda ash to control PH its cheap. If you have a closed system its less of a problem as its oxygen that does the dirty work.
