my model 9 on my c4 wants in engage when driving and in freespool  it will go in and out about 4 ins,pulls and brakes good thanks for any help

If it is "winding the cable in" when its pulled out to hooK a skid  YOU HAVE A SERIOUS ISSUE, safety wise. Most likely clutch bands, dirt, cylinder rods coming out etc. Same if it does it after brake is applied Please look at it as I have seen this happen before and the results were not good.

Agree. Pull the side cover. Mine did the same. I had to remove the drive chain to get it back to the dooryard. A piece of the band shoe had broken off and was jamming. The band's were toast. Most likely a simple thing as as jocco says.

yup, been thru that several times. you need a new clutch band. if those sit around a while, rust will push the friction material off the steel band and jam inbetween the drum and lining. i had to cut one once to get it off it was jammed so bad.

thanks for info took side cover off , lining is coming off about an in. and is dragging. called PB and H and are in stock and not a bad price with core.

Harolds had them in Stock when I needed mine. The 9 were pretty common.
