Goofed up my first order, didn't have the bar in stock they told me they had, so they sent out the piece they did have.  Then they called me on the phone to ask what I wanted to do, apologized for the short shipped order, then sent my new bar and chain freight paid.

Customer service "rules"!!!!!  I haven't dealt with a company like that for a long time.  Just thought it needed to be mentioned.

So many trees, so little money, even less time.

Can't beat good service. Makes you want to go back there.

Ed

Yup, always had really good service & excellent people to deal with. When they don't have what you want they try to find something that will work.

I told the guy at Bailey's what I wanted to cut and what I was using and he help walk me through all the different type of chains. I ended up getting the Woodsman 30cs (I guess a skip tooth 72 series clone) and a new bar.

My Bailey's order arrived two days after I placed it, well packaged too. Unlike my JCW order and I am still waiting for the northern toolhttps://forestryforum.com/board/index.php?action=position"> Note:Please read the Forestry Forum's postion on this company order that was placed two days before Bailey's.

All the service I have had so far, on three orders, has been excellent.

I had poor customer service the last time I ordered from baileys. I ordered a lewis winch which the 150' 3/16" cable bound up making the brand new winch unusable. We called baileys and explained the problem and the first thing they said was we would have to pay one of their technicians to look at it. Something brand new out of the box and having a customer pay to look at it first. That was the first problem.  We sent it back for a refund and got screwed on a 30% restocking fee. I think it was $130.00. That was the second problem.

During several telephone conversations with baileys they were mostly interested in charging us to have someone look at the winch instead of maybe exchanging it or trying to help us with good customer service.

I really like baileys catalog and wanted to order more things from them however I have ordered elsewhere as baileys has lost my business. The lewis winch should have been sent back as a defect  to the cannon factory in canada as I contacted them and they wern't aware of any complaints or problems. Baileys gets two thumbs down. dave

davefrommd,

Sorry to hear you got a bad experience. When I ordered my kiln from them, not only did they take my order, but they patched me to Brain outside who spent 45 minutes talking to me about what to expect. He gave me several tips on what to do with my reefer trailer and also about carts and weights.

I have not had occasion to order anything since, but I can tell you, I would not hesitate to order anything from them.

I hope you can iron out the differences with them.

Missin' loggin', but luvin' the steady check...

I am going to be contacting baileys shortly and give them a chance to give me credit in the amount they took from me which I feel was wrong. If they do as I ask, I will then be a satisfied customer. If not I have a formal written complaint I will register with their regional  better business bureau. I'm sure baileys is a good company to do business with however they wern't good to me. I hope everything works out.  dave

Was the winch from Bailey's defective? Or that the cable wouldn't wind back up right?  Couldn't tell from your description what was ailing in the winch.  :(
I find winch's and winding cable a real hassle and real particular about any twists in the cable that will cause takeup problems. I had a similar problem with an automatic reel for taking up air hose. If under pressure, it would ball up, and if not under pressure, it wouldn't unwind.
Are Bailey's indicating they think it was user error? or a winch problem?

I hate winch cables on small winches.
You really have to be careful with them.
I much prefer the rope winch in that respect.

Rocky_J

Yup. I think if the cable had been unwound and rewound by the customer and then the cable bound up, I'd call it operator error. But Dave is implying it was bound up when he took it out of the box.

Cables require a certain amount of knowledge and experience to use smoothly. A cable wrapped loosely on the spool and then tensioned will ruin it in seconds. Then you need a new cable no matter how little it was used.

Bailey's lost me as a customer as well!
I ordered of the intenet and didn't get what I ordered. After talking to them, they agreed their website was wrong and agreed to take it back AND pay my original shipping cost.
They refunded the item price but never repaid my original shipping.
Don't care to do business with them again.

Rick
