that spalting came from bird peck no  that's what all the cherry looks like iv been cutting  ;D

I see no evidence of bird pecks. But this tree is what the locals here in Redding CA call water oak. It had a lot of rot in it and was hanging heavy over the neighbor's house so my FIL had it taken out. I'm going to bring my mill and slice some of it up as well as a black oak log he has. I ripped this round with the chainsaw to see what it looked like.  I will post pics later.

Here is the round after I freehand ripped it with the chainsaw. It is quarter sawn and I think it holds a lot of promise for things to come when I get my mill here in the next week or two.
