Have been useing the Harbor sharpener for circular blades. Does a decent job but would like to do a better job because I do it for a lot of freinds. Am looking at the sharpeners from China on E-bay. cost about $430. Has anyone tried these and are they woth the extra cost. Would like to sharpen as they were new not a notch below. probably done 300 on the Harbor sharpener and there is a lot of guess work. Thanks for any help

Welcome jmw642,

are you asking about sharpening full size sawmill blades 48" diameter and up  or handheld circle saw blades 7 1/4" diameter?

Welcome to the Forestry Forum, jmw642.

As mentioned, much more information about the "Harbor" sharpener as well as the one in question would help.  Providing information about yourself, your location, and your interest helps with question answering.

Thanks guys what I`m looking at is a heavy duty 125mm circular saw grinder. of course its built in China. Need it for regular carbide 6 to 20 inch blades. Am from Montana and retired, its just for a hobby more or less. Just like to get the blades as sharp as possible. Have gone through two of the Harbor grinders no bearings just bushings.

that is true  the ones I am looking a on e-bay are made in china. they are a lot more heavy duty then the Harbor ones. Just for example the Harbor sharpeners are about 7lbs. and these others are 30 lbs. Am just wondering if anyone has tried these and if they liked them

I used to would not buy HF stuff til the last few years the brand names quality went down hill to the point I figured if I was going to buy junk I might as well pay for junk.
I have the HF circle blade sharpener, sharpens to 16 inch i believe. Took me a couple of sacrificial blades to get it lined out because the manual that came with it was worse than worthless. I have had people tell me that my sharpened blades were better than they were new. All I sharpen are Carbide. Let me know LeeB, we will get on the phone and see if we can't skin that cat. I don't know if I am using mine right or not, the finished product works.

I'll try to remember to call when I get home. No use calling from over here and too expensive to boot.

If you are doing a lot of blades you may want to be aware of this and take necessary precautions. I know that the fellow that does my blades is very cautious on that account and has very effective dust collection at the machines.
