I got a manual and a "sqinch" with my 441. Watched a video were looked like more tools came with a guys 441 was just curious. thanks

I'd say it depends on what kind of deal you work out with the dealer. Wrench and manual is about all you get from most of them these days. Maybe a scabbard. You want more, it costs you more.

As post reads "what's supposed to come with the saw"

these saws come in a box with a bag of tools and manual I saw the guy open the box and take his saw out and saw the clear baggie with the manual and other tools in it.

thats why I ask.

The 'other tool' was likely the bucking spike which is installed by the dealer.

You should get a scrench, a black torx wrench that is shaped like a L, and a orange handle small flat head screwdriver. And a manual. If you bought the powerhead with a bar and chain you should have gotten a scabbard. They wont give things away but if you didn't get all that I mentioned then they held back on ya

weider1717

thats what I needed to know. I didn't get the hex wrench or the tweaker. Anything specfic the hex is used for?

Here are the answers to the same question posed in 2009 if it is of any help. One answer came from a retired dealer

Weid,

I got my new Stihl earlier this month and it came with a 20" scabbard (even though I got their 25" bar), the manual, a squench (I gather that is what the L shaped hex wrench is called from other comments here). and a T wrench to remove the cover nuts. The T- wrench also had a hex end instead of the flat tip screwdriver needed to adjust the chain tensioner. I already have the right T wrench that removes cover nuts and adjusts the chain so no big deal but I will mention it to them the next time I am in their shop as I think was wrong T-wrench. Oh, I also got a pouch for the manual/tools.

My recent Stihls, one last week, two a little over 2 yrs ago,  came with the 3 tools mentioned above, a pouch (the newest one is cordura), manual, warranty card, scabbard, bar & chain.

A scrench (many spellings) is a screwdriver/wrench. It usually has 13mm and 19mm on one end and the screwdriver on the other.

up here a winter kit is pretty standard and most will throw in a hat.

Pretty ticked they left off the pouch and L hex wrench on Purpose with both saws.

Is it the end of the world? no but the new saws I bought are supposed to come with them I will be contacting them and stopping in to pick those up.

I'd be friendly about it and maybe they will throw in some mix oil. Maybe different regions give out more or less tools? I know around here I get the scrench, the small flathead, the L shaped torx, manual, and the last couple saws came with a grey cordura type pouch.

Jeff

I reached out to a current Stihl dealer to ask him today.

"We sell with bar&chain,L wrench, scrench, screwdriver and manual."

Oh yeah and a warranty card and reciept.  ;D

I will be polite but with the 441 I had got home and had to go back after realizing that failed to give me ANYTHING.

so they're lacking in the making sure they got everything together for the customer had I not gone back I would have been without a manual even.. btw I am about 30min from this dealer.

And maybe it is up to the dealer to order his saws with (or without) the extras?  If given 'free' with a saw, then could be the dealer has to buy those extras things and Stihl doesn't put them in the box at no charge.
For sure I don't know, but when I bought my saw, my dealer reached up on a shelf to give the scrench, the L wrench, screw driver (no, because he knew I had one), and the scabbard. They were things that appeared to be in his inventory, not out of a shipped box.
A carrying case was extra $$, but I didn't want one. Wouldn't have wanted it to be included in the price either.

That may be the case Beenthere. I usually buy a saw or 2 a year and the guy at the dealership always gives me the tool's after saw is paid for. But the pouch and tool's and manual are all together in a sealed plastic bag. I always figured the bag with contents rode over here from germany with the saw but who knows. Maybe some dealer's sell the little tool's separately. Iv'e seen the price tag on a scrench at stihl dealer's here local...greed is a horrible thing. ;)

Some will also throw in a loop of chain. hope it works out, I think you call them on it politely and get the rest of what comes with it.
In two days from now, tomorrow will be yesterday.

weider1717

Called another dealer he said they come with a orange pouch, hex wrench, scrunch, tweaker and manual.

if you aren't at least getting that the dealer is holding out and for why? not sure because a pouch for the manual and a hex wrench or tweaker is hardly worth anything but I like to keep my manuals etc in the pouches provided and put them in my safe with all my paperwork.

then again I'm just picky.

Well weider I don't think you have alot to complain about . As you said in your previous post you paid a grand total with tax included $812 for your MS441 CM. One heck of a good deal :D

Btw your CM model doesn't need the carb adjustment screwdriver as there's no adjustment screws on your carb.
Your scrench should fit your oiler adjustment screw.

The  660 I bought included the tools and I also negotiated a six pack of oil mix and a loop of chain ;)
