We take the cover off and spray starting fluid between the bands and drum while its spinning, then work it a bit.  works for us.

I did a search on here for mine, I had the swivel fitting leak hydro all over the band. I tried everything baking powder, cases of starting fluid, brake clean, nothing worked at all. I finally took the band off sanded it down with 100 grit emery cloth and baked it in the oven at 300 degrees for about 2 hours. It smoked like crazy the first 1/2 hour then started to get real hot but i let her have it. I think you could bake it at a lower temp also. I put it back in and have pulled about 100000 bf with it no problems. That is the only thing that worked, I figured I was going to buy a replacment band anyway so if I hurt it in the oven I wasnt really out much. Good luck

I posted this a long time ago and can't find the post, so here's the way to clean oil soaked bands and clutch plates..Put them in an open container and pour in enough kerosene to cover. Place over a source of heat and boil the kerosene for half an hour or so. DO NOT TRY THIS INSIDE ANY BUILDING. Out in the backyard on the bbq grill, you may get a flash fire...

I cleaned mine with gasoline and also breakcleaner let it dry in the sun for a day (we have a very hot sun here!), maked grooves with an ingroover or maybe sanding will work fine too and dry it again with babypowder. every once in a while i put some more powder on it. you can see the white powder turn brown and black as it sucks up the oil. that kind a worked.

the best thing I found to do is get new bands   I know they are not cheap but all the trouble taking it apart and putting it together  trying this trying that and to find out it don't work   just think of the down time  your labor it has to be worth something   by putting in new your on your way making money  jmop
