my eldest lad just cut his first on tha lt40
36bf of larch as 6x1 flooring just as it was getting dark
he was real non-plussed about it
but it was the first thing he told his mum about when we got home changed the subject when i came through the door ;)

My oldest son has helped us out at the mill off and on over the past 10 years.  He is a pretty good hand and sees what needs to be done.  A couple of years back when we got the LT40 Super with Accuset, etc.,  I gave him a short corse in running it.  He was doing fine.  A little bobble here and there but nothing a little experiance wouldn't overcome. Sawed a couple of logs. Then Mary got back and put a stop to letting him saw.  She didn't want him to break anything.  She hardly trusts me to saw with it!

I think it's a good deal to let everyone saw at least some.  Gives them a lot better understanding about the whole opperation.

We don't let our boys use the mill yet.  But they hang around it enough.  

The youngest already knows what to say.  At dinner we pretend to load the broccoli trees onto the Woodmizer to get him to eat and he asks  "No nails Mommy"

this is the first time alex has shown any real interest in any thing work related
 he's got lots of projects on the go at the workshop some for almost 2 years waiting for the next bit of design insperation : which must be genetic on the fathers side : :D
where as tom (8) has got his space marked out in the workshop for when he leaves his schooling and has his list of things the need doing from linda and at the speed im getting through some of then he'll have his work cut out ;)
