dyna rover splitter thoughts for a small firewood operation?

Have looking for a better more productive splitter and wanted to know if you think this splitter wood be a good up grade. I have a huskey splitter right now that has had a few modifications to make it more productive but still looking for more production. To me this dyna splitter would fit the bill for me and has the integrated off loading conveyor and the log lift. I know that dyna is a good company and makes a good product. With a guy cutting and a guy running the splitter I think you could produce a good amount of wood.

Looks like an awesome splitter, but I thought you were in the market for a processor?

I realized that a processor is going to be out of my price range and I'm not ready for that much volume. Most of my firewood I have been selling is going to my customers as tree length. But I would like to do some cut and split as well. I could take this splitter right to the job site and processes right into the truck utilizing the uglier top wood allowing me to get more out of the trees.

Its still probably close to $20k.... CRD makes a comparable one-the green monster splitter- that I owned less than a year ago that was a beast. Still manually cut everything but auto cycled a 24" max round through an 8 way wedge onto a 11' conveyor. To me, the only way to go is used. If you are getting tree length, I would try and spring for a built-rite "entry level" processor. How many times a day can you bend over and lift a green round into a trough???

The price for one is just over 11k. I already have a splitter so the motion of lifting the blocks onto the splitter is something I'm used to, done it that way for the past ten years. A processor is unfortunately going to be out of my price range. Everything I used for firewood has a maximum diameter of 16" anything bigger goes as a saw log or to a log length customer. I do see your point though about how labor intensive it would be doing it day in day out.

What was ur method of getting the logs onto the table?  I built a cutting table last year, too small but works. I lay the log length on it with the trailer then cut and roll onto the super splitter. I want to try to do 30-40 cd this year, not much but its a pretty quick system with cheap entry.

We lifted everything manually into it. We had it under a pavillion almost the whole time we had it and had monster rounds piled up beside it to "stage" the cut rounds and then roll them into the splitter. Pretty neanderthal but we were young and dumb, I suppose.

We flirted with the idea of making it into a processor. It would have been relatively simple but the 38 HP gas Kohler was screaming as it was. It only made sense to move to a full sized model processor. To add a live log deck and feeder trough would have been pretty simple. Adding a mount for a stihl 660 would have been slightly more tricky but still do-able. However, it probably would have eliminated its mobility somewhat if not entirely.

I think it would be a nice setup as it has the conveyor which makes it a all in one unit. Might be good for doing mobile processing as well. I like the crd but it is more money.
