After thirty some years, we are leaving this house and moving west------about a mile ::)   Son, Tom,  is moving in and requested that I get my stuff out of the garage :-/

Dad does most of the repair work at his shop about a half mile north,  but before he retired and moved to the farm about 20 years ago,  I was head mechanic.

You can't imagine the junk that got hauled out.  Mostly to the burn pile.  Quite a lot to the recycling center,  some to Dad's shop,  and some to the new house.

Found new parts to a #5 JD mower that we last used in the early 70's. Some weights for making horned hereford horns bend to just the right shape,  A buzz coil for a modle T.  Carbs for modle A and f-12 Farmall.  Brass oilers for hit and miss engines.  My old gunsmith tools from before I was married -----that occured in 67.  Bunches of antique tools that belonged to my wife's grandad.  Lots and lots of stuff that looked familiar,  but I really couldn't remember what it was for :D :D

Hey! I would like to put in a first dibs on any of that stuff you want to sell. I need at least two oilers if they aint got a home!
I can change my profile okay. No errors. If you can,t remove all the extra info in other fields and try.

Sounds like a regular treasure hunt to me 8)Do you happen to know anyone in,let's say...B.C. that might have a use for a  Model A carb? ;D

Jeff,

I'm not sure if I have extra oilers,  One goes to that 10 hp in Dad's shop and I don't remember just what's still down in the chicken house.  Tom didn't say that I have to clean it out :D   There's a few engines there I know. ;)

Paul,

If you need a carb,  I'll send you the main gasket (it's disassembled)  to see if it's the right one before sending the whole thing.  It wasn't the same as the one on the old 31 truckI had.

Paul,

Does it have the cone shaped clutch?  If so was that a problem rebuilding?  I think they quit them after 28.

I'll Look at the carb tomorrow.  Seems like it is a Zenith.
the Carb on the truck was good,  but when I was rebuilding the truck,  different oldtimers in the neighborhood would stop and give me parts they had laying around in case I needed them :D  I think they wanted an excuse to get a closer look ;D

Why don't you have a FF auction? You could limit the bidding to members who have more than, say...1902 posts. ::)

I recon I've always wanted to say this.

Bro. Noble

DanG,  I looked on the members list to see who that would include and decided against it.  Them guys are all tight wads or else guys I wouldn't want to take a check from :D :D :D  Besides,  I think Tom already put a match to the burn pile ::)

Of all the stuff we hauled out,  the pile of welding metal was probably worth the most,  and I figger i'll still need that as long as we have machinery that needs patching ;)

The only thing that caught Tom's eye was a fancy gearshift knob for a hot rod.  It was about like a pool ball but was red with a white swirl pattern in it.

Noble,
yes,the car has the multi disk clutch in it.We made it up from the best of 3 or 4 clutches.

I had dibs on a 1931 AA when I was a kid of about 15.It had duals and a split axle and was going to be mine for $300.(I almost had enough to buy it)

But I got into a pile of trouble, and like all good parents, mine looked for a weak spot in which to make the punishment sting a little. My weak spot was a love of old cars so they put the kibosh on the AA. ::)

How long ago did you last have the 31?

CK,
I would have had to of left a long long time ago to 'go west young man' :-/ ;)

Paul,

I rebuilt the old truck about 30 years ago.  It was used to haul logs till the 60's.  The guy that owned it was the same fellow that originally owned the Barker Rim Circle saw that Jeff has.  He is the last living person that worked at a big sawmill that my g-grandad had across the river from where I live.

People were always stopping and asking what I'd take for that old truck.  I'd tell them it wasn't for sale or I'd ask what they'd give.  About 10 years ago a fellow stopped by and asked what I'd take.  While visiting I learned that he had a country store down close to the Arkansaw line and had a bunch of old relics that were of interest to me.   I said we might do some swapping if he wanted to bring some up for me to look at.  He returned the next day with his trading goods and a lowboy.  What a mistake he made letting me know that he intended to leave with that truck.  That was one of my better trading days ;D   I used to trade a lot till I got married and my wife kept getting on to me for taking advantage of people. :-/ ::)
I just learned that I could live without making a swap------and learned to spot the guys that couldn't :D :D :D

That reminds me of one time I was swappin with an aquantance............He complained that , ""You seem to think your junk is worth more than anybody else...."" ;) ;)

The truth is I enjoy getting a good trade better than the junk  8) 8) 8)
.so I will hold out for my price forever!!!! or not trade :o :o
    HEAR THAT BLADE SING!

MrMoo

Hay Noble,
Want to sell the gunsmithing tools?
Mike

Bro. Noble

Well,  I cleaned out the basement today.  Found some old gun parts that were all rusty and worthless when I put them there 30 some years ago :D :D  Only other thing I found that I'd forgot was there was about 6 or 8 old gasoline irons.  The old blue ones that you pumped up.  Kind of a dangerous way to iron your clothes :D :D    I remember taking them all apart and was going to put the best pieces back together to make a couple or three good ones------never got around to it ::)

Hauled all the junk to the new basement. :-/   Bet it doesn't take someone long to get rid of all that junk when I expire :D :D

Mike,
Those old tools don't amount to much but I used them a lot so guess I'll keep them.  Someday if you ever get this way or if we can be at a piggy roast at the same time I got something I'll give you that you might like ;)

Bro. Noble, just to clairify.............I would not have wanted to, or dared to have said, "GO WEST OLE MAN"!!!!! :)

I have moved beyond trying to get the best trade over any other trader.  I now just try to go away with the feeling that I made a friend and someone  happy thinking that they got the best of me.  This is the feeling that makes me  feel like a winner even when I went in the hole financially.

Hey Noble,
Do you wanna swap saw mills?
my LT 15 for your LT40.   ;D

Perry,

You realize that you would have to take my son with it--------and work with him :D :D

Noble,
You son puts in a lot more hours around sawmills
than my son does.   Does EA Sports make
Sawmill 2004 for Sony Playstation 2?   ;D

I can see it now... you would get penalty
points for sawing metal.  You would have
to go to jail if you were stopped by the DOT
man.  You would get bonus points for stopping
by the Forestry Forum.   You could choose
your sawmill type, circle, bandmill or swing mill.

Shucks, I think I am on to something here.
Man this game would sell like hot cakes
