Hi, thinking of buying a light use chainsaw and I was looking at the Shindaiwa range, anyone got an opinion/experience with these saws? I have a shindaiwa blower and it is well built and runs well.

I own a lot of the models that Shindaiwa has. They make a real good solid saw!

I use a Shinny 357 for a climbing saw....works real well...no complaints. I also have a 488 ( or maybe its a 388) ground saw......does a good job as well....

Hey

I gots one of them 488 which I bought myself for father's day and while driving home I got it working on this 1.5 thick Mango tree which they knocked down forr apartmnets. That thing worked it ass off slabbing this Mango which today is being turned into some lovely big bowls. Since that time I have an 088 and a 2101 which is really a 480 in disquise. But deep inside I which instead if messing with that husky I would of put my bucks to a huge Shindaiwa. It starts ,it light and it has guts.  I am sure Make in Japan .  I don't own the German or swed's anything. After watching some of those Japanese
game shows I could see them designing some wild piece of
fear.

Just reread my e-mail at was Meters not feets 1.5m . Feet doesn't really tell a story.

The Shindaiwa 488 is very popular here with log home builders because of the terrific power to weight ratio. It is also very reliable and a treat to work with.

I work for a  Highway dept...they bought Shindiawa's back in the ninties..and they get used non stop during the winter and spring tree crews by big guys who don't care. After many years of use..they never failed in anyway....they auctioned off all but one and bought Husqvarna's to replace them because there was no longer a local dealer.

One of the one auctioned is owned by a freind..IT still runs. I have the one still at the Highway Dept in my truck and IT still runs just fine. Kind of like the energizer bunny. Can't go wrong with those saws.
