Is there any kind of a makers mark on it? or a cast mark?  How'd you come by it?

There is a patent tag on it. I won't get to look at it again until next week.

Ahhh... A fine example of the device that preceded the vasectomy.  For some reason, it never became popular.  Not sure why.

I guessing a juicer or cider press. It's pretty darned sturdy though.

It's hard to see in the photo, but each set of pins and holes is a different size. Ranging in size from memory from 1/8 to about 3/8. The fit is pretty close.

Since it looks pretty old and bottles back in the day were hand-blown, I'll guess that it is a cork cutter/press.  You would lay the cork bark in there, press it and get a bunch of different diameter corks... ;)  Though I suppose 1/8" would be pretty small...

Old, old HSS drill indexes used to come in a round can. Maybe this is the tool that punched the holes in the sheetmetal for the various drill bit sizes...

The screw goes all the way down through it, so anything you would put in there would have to be very small.

The thread count on the screw indicates that you would be limited on the amount of pressure that you could apply.  Are the little "plungers" solid, hollow, sharp?

I believe they are solid. I'll search the patent on Monday, and then we'll know, hopefully.
