I am having a new problem with my old 2300. I recently got my boiler running for the first time this year. All seemed to be working well, but I immediately could tell I needed a new door seal, but figured I could take care of it over the weekend.  Big mistake, it was not too cold outside, not too much call for hot water in the house. With the extra air allowed into the firebox from bad door seal, the water overheated.  I fixed the door seal, got it running again. But now I am getting very little air flow into the firebox. It seemed fine before the overheating. Does anyone know, is there some sort of shutdown mechanism that won't allow the fan to blow a lot of air once the system overheats? If so, how do you reset it?

Feedback from multiple local dealers since my original post...the fan is either on or off. There is no mechanism or program that limits the fans function. The consensus is I either have an air flow blockage I haven't found yet or the fan is starting to die. Still interested to see if there are other thoughts.

Take the air valves of the back and have a look in, I bet that when it got hot the hot good was very liquid, and ran down into these valves /  air shafts and clogged it somewhat.
I clean mine out once or twice a year with a prybar... they clean out pretty easily.

I re-inspected the air ways and they are clear. I put my leafblower to primary air path and I could feel good air flow through all of the holes. But when I put everything back together and allow the fan to come on, I don't get enough air  through the holes to blow out a candle. The fan always comes on, makes no noise, and is not physically damaged. The only thing I can think of is that the fan is just not producing enough air.

You need a good seal on the back panel that houses the solenoids and the fan to force the air into the stove.  Check and see whether that panel is fitting correctly.  Everything can be working fine, but the air may be taking the path of least resistance around that panel and not through the stove.
My father once said, "This is my son who wanted to grow up and become a doctor.  So far, he's only become a doctor."

The panel seal seems fine.

I am wondering how hard the air should come out of the holes in the firebox. should it come pretty hard or just light? I know its hard to describe in text, but curious. It seems to me in the past when I have had the door open, with door switch pushed in, and watched as air come on, it seems like pretty good pressure air.

Also wondering, we seem to be getting cold nights but warm days. Is it possible there was so little demand for hot water during the day, the fan never comes on, and the furnace can starve itself of air and go out?

You do not feel a blast of air out of the holes.  You should be able to see the coals in the area adjacent to the holes glow brightly because of the air flow that is present, but your not going to be "blown away" with the flow when just feeling for it.  Try some of that "dust" that hunters use to determine wind direction, or just check the direction of smoke.  But do that stuff with the fire out.

There is a pulse setting on your controller, if the heat extracted from the system is minimal, the water temp will not drop rapidly and ther may be significant period of time between recycling.  The pulse setting provides a short burst of air to try and keep the fire going in these slow periods.  With wet wood, your fire can definitely go out.

Thanks doctorb. I think that may be exactly what I need to do.

I find that when my stove is clean, and the blower is on the fire can be almost jet engine like from all of the air, you can feel it a little out of the holes with the back of you hand as well.
There was an updated "Squirrel cage" on the blower as well. When I replaced my blower I got the updated style.

New Guy

I will check on the blower update. Thank you.
Unfortunately (or fortunately, I guess). its been so warm, I just shut off my furnace. Looks like another week or two before I start it up again.
