Seeing all the photos of people getting their slabs poured for their mills made me want to add to the list. it's been a super hectic summer and fall and now that I can find the time it's either raining or freezing. I framed up a 54' x 14' slab with a 10 x 10' extension to add a log loading deck where my loading arms are, compacted it, laid a vapor barrier and waited for a break in the weather.

December is a lousy time to pour a concrete slab, but I need to stretch my sawmill to cut some 30' long beams (so I'm going to be able to cut 40+'). It's either going to freeze or rain. Today the weather was forecast to be reasonable so we poured out the slab. Got it all down just in time for the rain to start.

A bit of creativity, rope, mason twine, and poly to stop the drips and trowel the surface again, and again and again....

Looks like it's cured hard enough and I just finished the sealer so if the rain and wind will hold off for a few more hours I should be golden.

Now I'm off to my scrap pile to find some big beams to get ready to put up a roof.

Looks like the same pic, or are we supposed to see something different between them

Good fix

Good on getting the pour done ahead of the "pour".

Senility is slipping in apparently. I knew something looked odd, but couldn't figure it out ;-) I fixed it now. It's raining super hard now, and I have little rivers running onto the slab but so far it's just beading up and rolling off the sealer. Total muddy mess all around it, but I don't need to walk there anyway. My daughter enjoys playing in the lake.
