Bro. Noble

I'm gonna take a nap this afternoon as soon as I make this post and finish my popcorn ;D

Been a hectic year. We started on our new house a year ago,  finally are in it and getting settled in for the most part.  During the past year there were a zillion things I needed to do whenever I had a spare minute.  Most of them are done now ;D  I just spent a few minutes looking out the window at the turning leaves and realized my wife and I havn't had the time to enjoy ourselves for so long.

It's been dry here for the past month.  We had a bunch of hay down and the weatherman said it was going to rain for the next week.  We got it all rolled up just as the sprinkles started last night ;D

Had an old dry cow disappear about a week ago.  I looked for her,  my son looked for her,  we finally decided she must have gone off in the timber to calve and died trying.  She was with the herd yesterday looking fit as a fiddle :D

I already got my shoulder patched up and can do about anything I ever could ------thought I never was going to be able to button my pants by myself again ;)

We sawed up all our logs this morning and planned to run the resaw,  scraggmill,  and edger thisafternoon.  I told my son I believed I would enjoy the rain from the inside looking out this afternoon.  We can do that work tomorrow :D

I'm needing this afternoon to count my blessings and relax :)

Way to go Bro. Noble.

Nothing better than being able to reflect on the past year and be happy about how things are going.  That means you doing something right!

Smell the roses, Brer Noble.  We are all guilty of trying to pack as much production in a day as the day will allow without giving much thought to our mental and physical well being.   I think, we as a nation, have forgotten how to live.  Folks used to go visiting and when you had visitors took the day off.  Fishing and hunting were  part of daily life, not two weeks out of the year when someone else allowed you to do it.  There was time for breakfast with the wife, dinner and a nap in the middle of the day and supper with the family.  Meals used to take at least an hour.  Look what we've done to ourselves.

Good for you for Hanging on to some of that. :)

Looking back is something I do quite often, sometimes its only a week and sometimes a month. I look back at some of the hard times we've had and think to myself, shoot this aint nothing compared to what some folks go threw. I look at what I got and thank God for letting me borrow the things he gave me.
I've been thinking alot about the things that Jeff and some of you others have to have fix up. I think to myself, the crap that I put my poor body threw and its still ticking, DanG, I must be Blessed.
Peace and good well to all of you.

Noble,

I know what you mean about the hectic periods in our lives.  You are right to take the time to relax and reflect.  If we cannot do that then what are we trying to accomplish as we pass through this life?

Dewey
Selling hardwood lumber, doing some sawing and drying, growing the next generation of trees and enjoying the kids and grandkids.

ive been facing a few frusstrating difficulties lately.............and I have seen enough livin to know it is true , this will pass like every other challenge I have faced............the key is to KEEP LIVIN as you go through stuff..............
I was thinkin yesterday, that the only things I have acccomplished, that truly make me feel good , were the things that were HARD.....that took all I could muster, and all God could do, to get em' done............makes life richer and larger :)

I'm just waitin for the days to get a bit shorter and the last of the tourists to leave so we can enjoy a bit of quiet here ourselves :)

Tom

Are you sure those are tourist?   We always figured they were natives from up there that flew to Florida in the short days.  We say the same thing when the days start getting longer. :D

Timber_Framer

Well there's quite a few of em that fly on back Floryda come the first frost, but we've still got plenty from Minneapolis and Chicago that are up here gawkin at the leaves drivin slower than I do when I'm grouse huntin :D

No tourists to worry about in this part of Fla. No slow moving leaf gawkers, either.  Just got those hay wagons and corn buggies trundling down the hiway at 20mph. I don't worry about them, though. They can just get past me the best way they can. ;D

Thanks for the reminder Noble, :) somedays it does seem that life's a female dog but those days are few and far between. The good things in life are much more common if a guy just remembers to pay attention to em. Yesterday we went out and transplanted red oak trees from the pond area to along the driveway, the leaves on the young ones are a bright crimson red. The sugar maples are showing their colors already, I do enjoy the change of seasons.

Timber_Framer

A couple of frosts and a BIG wind the last two days took care of all the sugar maple leaves, but the aspins are bright gold today and just enough of thise leaves have fallen so as I can look out at Lake Superior while having my morning coffee on my south deck.
It's too nice a day to watch football I think I'll go cut some wood ;D
