So today I skipped out of my day job because I had volunteered to help the Virginia Dept of Forestry.   They were sponsoring a workshop for mostly tree care service people, arborist, landscapers and such to point out other potential market and business opportunities for recovered Ash trees killed by Emerald Ash Borer.

I was asked to come and bring and set up my mill to demo sawing recovered ash and talk on milling, how I market my service, types of customers I deal with and all other aspects of operating a custom milling service.   I milled a couple Ash logs that they cut during the workshop while showing how to directional fell and risks associated with felling dead trees.

All in all it was a great day.   But one of the big highlights was during the morning "classroom" sessions.  The VA DoF reps were talking about different information resources available concerning EAB, urban timber recovery and marketing and value added services one of the attendees (I forgot his name), an arborist, told the group that he gets a lot of information online from "The Forestry Forum".    8) 8) 8)    It was at that point I had to pull out my FF ball cap and show it off.    ;D

I had a great day.

Magicman

Dave Buck's comment about the Forestry Forum in the OP reminded me of an incident that happened to me a few weeks ago.  I had finished the job and the customer was admiring his lumber.  I made a comment about the lumber and sawing cost and the customer turned to me and said; "well you are the Magicman".   That is when I realized that the customer had been reading the Forestry Forum as a guest.
