A friend of mine just gave me this old Homelite. Through some brief research I've picked up that they were only made in 70-71, were state of the art with the first automatic chain tensioner and such. I just got the saw in the shop and started cleaning it up. Through the dirt from sitting in a garage for 30 years, it looks surprisingly clean. The only things it needs is the pull string and air filter and cover. From what it looks like, these may take a special bar due to the auto tensioner.

My questions are, is it worth fixing? I saw a guy trying to sell a super clean, original for close to $1,000. Now, I probably wouldn't sell at the moment. I don't plan on using it as a go-to saw, just more of a collectors piece if anything. Also, what are parts like for it?

Thanks!

EZ 250 will take an Oregon A095 mount bar. Not hard to find.
I'd fix it for it's rarity and profit potential. Check chainsawr or ebay for parts availability.

Any pics? As you already found out, they were made only in 70/71 and is more of a collectors item. Many parts are the same as a Homelite Super EZ, except the clutch cover, bar and bar plates. These parts are fairly rare and will be difficult to find if missing. Another unusual feature is the tach for setting the idle speed. It's a piece of wire attached to the air filter cover. It swings a wide arc when idle speed is correct. Another unusual feature is the thumb wheel for setting idle speed. I've never seen one but have literature on it. Would be only on late saws only, if it was ever produced.
