I picked up a huge maple yesterday. The butt was 36in and the crotch at the end came in at 48inches. The total length was 5 feet. Also got to 8 foot small logs out of it also.  I get these from local contractors that removed condemned houses in the city I live.  If I don't take them they go to the landfill.  this one will have to be chainsaw milled due to its size. Thought you guys would enjoy.

Isn't that a silver maple?  Silver maple seems so brittle, I've never thought of it as worth sawing?  Good video!
Anything someone can design, I can sure figure out how to fix!
If I say it\\\\\\\'s going to take so long, multiply that by at least 3!

I saw them alot. Good for pallet stock. And grade mill buy it around here. Pays a little less than red oak usually. On the pallets when u nail it down its bad about splitting if you nail near the corner. But my mill zips right threw its easy to cut, almost like sycamore just a touch harder....

Seemed like your Stihl cuts a bit slowly. Are you using safety chain? I keep my rakers ground down so I take a bigger chip. Waiting for the lumber pics.

That is my hope also! I am going to slab it at 9/4 for live edge boards, I see some nice coffee tables in that log,

I like the way you put a jack under the trailer to bolster it up.
Little things to help preserve your equipment.

Looking forward to seeing you mill it.
