Done that many times, Brucer!

Picked up a lot of short boards that way!  thumbs-up

   Did you try to resaw any of those thick slabs? Looks to me like you could still salvage some short boards from them.

I can saw from either end but I much prefer the small end to the hitch end of the mill.

The same number of boards are in the log regardless of which end you saw from.  The only difference is which direction on the log you are traveling when the blade enters and exits.
