My Stove Smells Like Belgian Waffles

I keep old bricks on top of my stove, both to act as a heat sink, and to have variable heat zones for heating/keeping food warm, and whatnot. Currently I have the dregs of scented candle jars sitting on the bricks cause I'm not exactly sure what I want to do with the leftover wax. My clothes dryer is also broken, so I had a work shirt laying over the candle jars. When I lifted it off, it knocked a jar over, and I got wax over the top of my stove. After wiping it off with a paper napkin, it smells, and looks pretty good.

Question...

Is there any reason I wouldn't want to do the whole stove in wax after cleaning the dirt off?

Fire danger?
That occurred to me, but I'm not sure how much of a hazard a light coat of wax would create. There isn't much there to burn. Unless someone here comes up with a good reason for or against, I'll use my spill area as a test spot, and see what it looks like after the season's over. If it turns out favorably, I may wax the whole stove next heating season. I could see it collecting dust. Dunno... New territory for me.

I will frequently rub the surface of my wood cook stove with bacon grease, cook surface, front, side, warming shelf etc.It is a Stanley waterford cast iron stove.Provides a nice shine which lasts a while. No ill effects.Just doesn't smell as good as belgian waffles, tho!

I think the wax if it's in a thin layer will do no harm.

By the way the stove is used almost 12 months of the year.I don't let the greased stove sit long w/o a fire.

lxskllr, I use old candles to make fire starters. i use a water double boiler but if I get in a hurry, I will melt the wax on the hot plate.  One time i got distracted and the wax really started to smoke.  so it may fill your house with smoke, and it then smells like melted plastic.  The thin layer would prob not sustain a fire, since there is not wick and molten wax reserve.  What does your handle represent if I may ask?  really good golfer?  "links killer"

It's a name I used years ago in FPS(FirstPersonShooter) games that refers to a particular person. I used it as my first forum login, and somewhat foolishly, kept it for everything. I believe in accountability, and like being accountable/recognizable for my presence on the web, but these days of increased tracking by corporations, I'm not so sure it's the smartest approach  :shrugs:  I'm sticking with for now  :^)

We use wax paper to keep the top of our old cook stove nice and black. Just crumple some up,like a sheet of paper and rub the top when it's warm.
