Tom

I got to the industrial park next to the Fernandino Airport this morning and found my charge to be a bunch of Hickory, Pecan, Live Oak and Cherry.  Here is a picture of some of them as the "crew" gets a Hickory hooked up to the backhoe loader.

I don't know why I took this picture.
I guess I just wanted to see myself
on the forum. :D

Waht does Live Oak cut like?  I have been told that it has no lumber value but find that hard to believe.

My Mother-in-law and her boyfreind manage a 6000 acre ranch in California that is FILLED with the stuff and the owners dont want it around.  Most of them are VERY big trees.  The just happen to have a fair amount of Burl Live Oak and about as much Burl Buckeye.

Pender!  You old Con, you.

Kirk,
We hear that it has no commercial value or lumber value around here too.  The fact is that it is so difficult to saw (like a concrete block) that few mills will bother with it.

It has a White Oak looking wood.  The sapwood is creamy to light grey.  The heartwood is a dark grey.  The medullary rays are very pronounced and the grain is anything but straight.

It was used in the marine industry but as lumber makes good flooring.  It is better known for table tops massive furniture and turned legs, material for beds and most any furniture where ornate ray configurations are desired.  While I hate to saw it, I think it is beautiful wood.  Production is always quite slow.

Neat picture Tom you look quite extinguished put dont feel put out about it.
A very wise man once told me . Grand children are great, we should have had them first

Shameless, Ernie, totally shameless! :D :D :D

I think Tom really posted that to show that he has gotten a new shirt.  The red T must have finally given it up. ;D :D

It was Co-o-old this morning Dang.  The red t-shirt was under the black, hooded sweat shirt.   Why, I couldn't go out without my red t-shirt on. :D :D

Furby

How much of that pile did you get cut?
What are the plans for the lumber?

Paschale

Hey there, Tom...when it gets cold out, and you wanna stay in Red...well, come up here, just north of Furby and me to Cedar Springs, and you can pick yerself up some red flannels...only in Michigan would a city have a festival dedicated to Red Flannels!  ;-)
