Whats going on guys. Looking for some advice. I have a 310 and the chain brake screw (on the pull cord side) snapped off in the housing. Ive removed the pull cord cover and the screw is about a centimeter in the housing so im assuming the only way to get it out is to drill it out.... but its a 310 and the hole is plastic so I don't think drilling the screw out would work. Other than buying a new housing and rebuilding the saw or buying a new saw, does anyone have any advice as how I can fix this?

Can you use an 1/8" left hand twist drill bit ?

You may have to use a center punch to dimple the center of the bolt to keep the bit from wondering.

Not too sure without seeing it, but I have done this before with other things. Using a Dremel tool, carefully cut a slot in the screw and use a flat screwdriver to remove it.

Drilling is also a good option. Like was said. Dimple the center of it and carefully and slowly drill a small hole and first then slightly bigger until you get the right size hole and use an EZ Out. Slowly so it does not heat up the plastic, and use good quality bits.

Like others have said use a very sharp center punch and a left had drill bit. I have had good luck getting broken off bolts out of plastic this way. Left hand drill bits are worth there cost.
