So I got the shingle attachment with the mill but had never had a need for it.  It's looking like I might have a steady buyer for siding so it was time to figure it out.  Best I can tell I need to put a 1" spacer under the cant to reduce the waste at the bottom

Good looking cant/siding.
Well done!
. . . and then you need a steady source of good pine logs to keep the steady customer happy.
.
Kiln drying that siding?

looks great.  do not get greedy, a spacer will maybe get you 2 more pieces.  you need some waste to clamp onto.

Nice!  Your customer will need corner boards and other trim so that bottom board might not be waste.

No kiln drying yet, this customer will be hanging it off the saw. Might get around to building a solar kiln if it goes as he plans but we'll see

Nice! I've been thinking about either building one or buying one, but the reality is that I don't seem to have time to do much of anything beyond the mobile jobs. At least until December when the snow sets in for a few months, then I have plenty of time 😁

Nice, Tell him to nail the top and let it hang, put a pencil mark at the bottom. Go back and look. The wood will be away from the pencil mark, mark again. When the wood stops moving from the mark. Nail the bottom.

I sell a similar product except mine is already dried. Most of mine is installed by contractors that have no desire to go back once it is dried. I do kind or cheat though. I saw 1 1/8" and then run it through my resaw at a angle.

nice job!  I kinda wish I kept my lap siding jig!  I didn't use it so I sold it several months ago.
