How many of you guys use poly strapping for lumber?  I just started using it and it seems like it will work well.  Makes it easy to move the stacks around as well.

I do.  The poly bands work great.  I have strapped stacks, loaded them for delivery and dumped the whole stack like builders supply folks do.

The first stack broke the bands.  I've since learned a better technique.

Thanks for the feedback.  What did you do differently?  What was it you learned from that issue?  Thank you!

Thanks Bruno.  It's working good for you?  Do you use the ratchet tensioner or the pull type?

I dump the stack slower and I make sure it is on 4x4s or 6x6s so it slides easier.  An 8' stack is harder to control than longer stacks.

I use woven strapping. It is tough stuff. Easily reusable. And easy to store and handle.

Wow! That looks real strong.  Where did you get that stapping?  Can you use the same tensioner?

That looks like Kubinec strapping.... I've been using it to tie up stickered lumber.  Regular strapping tensioner works fine.  I go back every few days an retention the stack as the lumber dries and shrinks, something you can't do with plastic pallet strapping.

@mddillon78 I get my strapping from strapping products.com

I use the ratchet style tensioner. I got mine off e bay
I got the cheapest one available and had very low expectations but thought for $20 why not? I've been using it for over a year now and it's still working great. I just give it a shot of oil every once in a while.

I used Kubinec brand poly strapping for my slab bundles. 3/4", 2700 pound tensile rating. The stuff was way better than the 1/2" steel strapping I tried at first.

I could dump the slab bundles from a height, pile them on each other, dig a bundle out from the bottom of a stack -- and never broke a strap.
