Guy I work with will give me "an old Husky 445" because it leaks oil while sitting.  This is the same guy I suggested buy a 16" homeowner level saw and he bought a MS 260 instead.   Then told me he was cutting some saplings with it while wearing sweat pants and got nicked, but barely broke the skin.  I figured I would be getting a good deal on a slightly used 260 before long.

Anyway - I  have only owned Stihls, and know nothing about the other orange saws.  What is the deal with this one?  He said it has an 18" bar.  I told him I would take it, but wonder what I will be getting.

Thanks,
Tim

You will be getting a decent home owner saw like a Stihl 250, which needs the oil lines replaced to stop the leakage. And replace the fuel line too.
And tighten the exhaust, they have a tendency to fall off and melt the oilntank

I have had a 445 for two years now. It has done about 20 cords of firewood and lots of thinning and trail cutting.
I really like it. It feels better in my hands then my ms 251 .  I laughed at the 18" bar it came with but now actually prefer the 18" on it.
It is a great cutting , surprisingly peppy little saw. I have had no issues so far.
