Hello to you all....I have a small portable saw mill...capacity to handle 24" dia. logs....length of 14'......much of the timber on my forest lands are Black Cherry under that dia. along with Yellow Birch, and Sugar Maple the same. Much of it has reached maturity and needs to be harvested. No winter sawing....so no frozen timber. What would be my best choice of blade for a 10 HP powered all manual mill? Tooth angle, spacing, etc. All suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks

4 degree .045 x1.25 Kasco or woodmizer. Unless you need a narrower band for your mill. What mill are you running?

I have never sawn yellow birch... That said, I cut a lot of maple, black cherry and red oak with 7 degree blades from Cook's Saw. Then I tried some large, knotty pine. I didn't care for the waves. Bought some Woodmizer 4 degree and have happily been cutting pine that requires trimming and careful placement it is so big.

Cooks makes and sharpens blades of all lengths for about all bandmills.  They are a sponsor, click on their name to the left.

I'm a big fan of the 4 degree bands. I have always used WM but have no reason to think Kasco or Cooks or other sponsors blades would not give similar results. Good luck.

I ordered 7* from WM that seems to be the consensus. I have 10s but the seem to dull quick in knots, and hardwood.
