I am 100% comfortable limbing, bucking, loading, splitting.
Yet, not so much on felling.
I picked up some bucked locust logs last yr from this lady. She's about 60 miles away.
She contacts me about dropping these 2 trees for the wood and perhaps a small amount of money.
Feeling kinda weird about the whole situation. I'm straight on firewood, not fond of a 120 mile round trip, and while they are not monsters...that's not what I do.

Any thoughts or advice?

Thanks,
Reg

It sounds like a voice is talking, I'd listen to it :)

Unless you have liability insurance and a healthy personal policy to provide for your widow don't touch it. Can she get a bucket truck with an experienced operator in there?

Just a good way to import bugs and waste your time.

I have all the above and have for quite some time.
Yet, I'm real partial to walking this tera firma in good health. ;)

There's enough space for a bucket truck.
She's trying to take the path of least resistance I think.

Because a job is offered is no reason to take it.  "No" is a very good word when something is beyond your comfort level or you simply don't want to do it.  No explanation nor excuse necessary.

I like your thinking!

The amount of firewood in those trees is not worth those miles even if you were wanting to do the job.  There's most likely easier pickings. I'd pass.

One of the best and worst days of my life was buying a bucket lift. Its handy'r than a pocket on a shirt. But everyone one wants to borrow it or for me to come take a tree down. I have a standard answer my insurance won't allow the bucket lift to be used on any ones property other than mine. I would stay away from that job.

I definitely will not be competing with you for that gig.

Appreciate you guys feedback & wise council once again.

Truth be told they are all pretty good no matter where you are.  Youl be fine with any of them.
