I got a great deal on a Husqvarna a few years back.  It was kind of a sketchy story, but basically the plastic chainsaw covering says it's a 55 but he said the saw wasn't actually a 55 - he dropped it and broke the casing and the small engine repair guy had an old 55 in the shop that didn't work but the covering was the same size.  It's time for me to get a new bar and I'm stuck trying to figure out which model this saw is before I order a bar.  Any thoughts on how i can identify it if the name and the plate stamped on it can't be trusted?

Hi there were 3 saws that the plastic would fit. Husqvarna 50, 51, and 55 the only difference was the size of the cylinders. They all use the same bar and chain. The only way to tell which one you have is to measure the cylinder.Odds are your original saw was a 51 because the 50 had the choke in the top cover. You have to change the carb if you go from 50 to a 51,55.

What are the numbers on the old bar? It should have the very common Oregon K095 mount.

There should be a vin tag by the bar oil fill cap
