Hello guys.  Hoping you might be able to help me in my search for wrenches.  What everyone using for large wrenches for hoses and such? I've been looking for a set of wrenches that fit larger applications (1"+) but aren't overly large and a pain to use.  Everything I've found and used has always been the "jumbo wrenches" and they work good, they just seem to be overkill for most uses.

Thanks

If you go on Amazon lots of options come up if you search hydraulic tappet wrenches

I have the old Williams combo's, 1" to 2". Sometimes they can be found on E bay.  They are long and thin but not tappet wrenches. The best for hyd. hoses.

I am a fan of the Martin brand wrenches. Used them alot in racing!

They are called service wrench's. Break them loose and final tighten with the big wrench .  Some time if a hose fitting is difficult you go the next size up , does not have to be lined with flats as perfectly.

Holesaw slugs from 1/8" or thicker plate make a good custom wrench.  Bandsaw out the flats and then shape with a grinder and file to fit.  Weld on a short, comfy handle.  Or weld on a NPT coupler so you can thread in various length pipe stubs for the handle length that suits the application.

And inexpensive spindle nut sockets make large box end wrenches.

1 1/4 service wrench in action today.
