Bobcat issues

Yesterday while using my M-610 Bobcat, we switched from forks to bucket.
I then when to a pile of snow and pushed on it to loosen a froze in 2x4x4.
After I broke it free the bucket fell off the bracket on the ends of the lift arms.
I discovered that the "wedges" that hold the bucket on where broken off.

I searched my parts book and found a part number for them.
I called a Bobcat dealer and he said that they can no longer get the one for the right side but could get one for the left side, for $150 plus shipping.

After hearing this, I searched the yard where the bucket fell off and found the broken wedge:

This one is different then the one in my parts book drawing. I called the parts guy back and he said that they could get that type for $107 each plus shipping.

Today, I had a welder friend of mine weld the two jam nuts together to get me by:

I managed to get this repaired one installed.

I found several on ebay but they are not of this type. Those have a tab on the side 90° to the wedge or on top with a hole through the tab for the bolt. Mine the bolt threads into the top of the wedge. As you can see the bolt broke.

What a story and mess. But hopefully by Tuesday of next week I'll have two new wedges and two new bolts.

Why buy a new wedge when what you need is a bolt? Put the wedge in a vise and heat it with a torch to a very dull red and the broken piece should turn out. Something like that a pipewrench works well to turn out the broken bolt. The nut will probably come off first, then you can get to the bolt. Use antisieze when you put it back together.

I have both the early and late quick tach on 610's . I you need pictures PM me . Right now I have 4 610's one only has 258 hours . the one with 2 levers is the late one the other is a single lever with a 90 degree bar stock off to the center .

My T320 has had the bucket latching mechanisms worn out for years... They were worn out when I got it. I recently blew a hose That powers the Bob Tach, so while I was fixing it I decided I was going to fix the latches. prices for a rebuild kit were insane.

Oddly Amazon has entire rebuild kits available which include the latches, levers, pins, bolts, etc for about $130 a side. They even include new weld in bosses for the pivots. It took a couple hours to replace everything and no more slop...

I got the replacement wedges yesterday from BobCat of NH. And I installed them. I painted them orange so if they break again and drop out, hopefully I'll be able to see them where they land.
