I joined a while back and have only made a few posts.

At the time I was trying to decide on a mill.  Placed the order last August and my mill, lt15  g w/ power feed and 25 engine upgrade arrived the last of October.

Needless to say been busy but have been following the forum.  Only milling for myself and doing favors for friends.

I am retired and 63 years old.  I do this because I enjoy it and have had my hands in some sort of construction, destruction since birth.

I have fabricated many items from examples shown here and will try to pay homage to those whose ideas I have used greatly to my advantage.

I also need to update my profile, but to summarize live in n/c Mississipp, property hopefully to move to in n/c Arkansas, lt15 mill, Kubota l3130, loader and most of the equipment  needed to wear the rest of me out.

One thread I hope to rehash is 15 / 20 inch planers and who might have one in stock.

My sawn wood is covered and on pallets and should be ready to start on about mid summer.

I have around 7000 bf sawn and about 3000 more to saw.  2500 in 2x pine and the rest in 4/4 mixed hardwoods for floors, walls, and ceilings.

Also wanted to mention there are probably  a lot like me lurking in the shadows, soaking up the schooling, and wanted to say thanks for all the info provided.  There is much to be learned, and this is the place.

Becoming more active IS a great thing. We all started somewhere. Me, my signature says it all.
Trying harder everyday.

Thanks for the replies.  I'm recharging the batteries this weekend, nothing at this time is a have to event.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

I'm in the same boat, was on regularly a few years ago bought a EZ mill and sawed a bit for myself.  Found that getting logs to my mill was a LOT of work and I wasn't keeping up with the Beatles so when a lumber company offered to buy my trees I sold.  Now I find a few trees that are dieing and more blowing down so back at it.  I'm getting too old for real hard work but enjoy finding the treasures some logs have inside.
Retired to the ranch, saw, and sell solar pumps.

As odd as it may sound my long term goal is to have enough materials to last me out.

If I take a notion to make a couple Adirondack chairs from white oak with walnut pegs glued as fastners and do a test sitting then give them to friends to enjoy that is my goal.

I enjoy making stuff but do not enjoy releasing my builds only to those with the financial means to purchase them, an odd perspective but I do not operated an open shop.

I truly enjoy building.  There is great satisfaction creating something, be it a rough sawn plank sitting on two stump cuts, or a polished finished piece for people to look at, or a spinning top I turned as my granddaughter watched.I just want the customer to be satisfied with the end result but mostly I`m out of that game and my stuff is offered to friends with no charge.  My way of saying thanks and staying occupied.
