440b steering cylinder problem

Had my 440b right side steering cylinder packing go, took it john deere for a new kit and it was leaking again but due to the head or nut not being completely tight, so they replaced it again. Just put it back in, let it idle to check for leaks. Went to make some turns and then this happened. Not sure if I should have bled the system or if the cylinder was just worn out. Any thoughts?

If im seeing it right thats a floating gland nut that takes a snapring.. No?  

First guess snapring didnt seat.

Web parts diagram doesn't show any snap ring. The pictures look to me that the gland threads into the cylinder barrel, and the threaded inner end broke off the outer exposed part of the gland. Possibly it was cracked and that was causing your leak. 
If you can walk the threaded remains out of the barrel, should not be too bad of a fix. 
Please post some pictures of what you find.

  If it is what I first thought, it might come out with a combination of pecking at it with a small center punch (you know the word I want to use there)and someone slowly turning the rod counterclockwise. Ya gotta have hope!
 Or maybe the threads stripped off. How worn are the center pins? Does this machine have turn stops that are missing/worn? Has that gland become the turn stop?

The stops are in place. It did bind the first time I put it back on trying to line up to put the pins in. Possibly could have made it weak then, leading to it breaking like it did. I'll know more tomorrow when I take it back off. Hopefully it's repairable or else I'm looking for a good used cylinder.
