   When the current price of furs around here I'd suggest letting it grow a while longer. :(

 If your basswood has the dark center it looks real nice on walls and ceilings.  Steve

The OP asked for uses for Basswood, and with current prices of Stumpage (at least in my area...) being recorded at ~$73.00/MBF- I assumed that any use for it might be of interest.
None of these were sold yesterday when I saw the ad:


 
Of course, I don't have a lot of experience in the sale of furs, so maybe folks are stockpiling with the hope of price increases.
