Got sad news today, sports broadcaster Bob Uecker has passed away at the age of 90. He was an absolute legend in sports broadcasting, with the second longest running career ever (54 seasons) for a play by play announcer for one team.

Growing up I attended Brewer games at both the old County Stadium in Milwaukee, and watched the building of the "new" Miller Park. We'd listen to the radio at home or on trips, and it was always a sign that spring was here and all was right when we'd here him. His trademark homerun call: "Get up, get up, get outta here... GONE!" would bring everyone to their feet cheering. His "Color" play by play with plenty of witty humor meant you were going to be entertained, even if the home team let us down (which they did a lot). ffcheesy

His career as a broadcaster ran for many decades after his years as a ball player. He was named Wisconsin Sportscaster of the year 5 times, was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame, and honored by the Baseball Hall of Fame.
He stared in countless TV commercials, on TV, and on the big screen in the Major League movies as well as other cameo appearances. He was a repeat guest with Johnny Carson, who gave him the title: "Mr. Baseball".
May his legend live on, rest in peace Bob.

Bob would also say: "I must be in the front row!"
There's even a seating section in American Family Field (formerly known as Miller Park), called the "Uecker Seats"... $1 seats, obstructed view, in the upper grandstand. ffcheesy

I liked Bob's call even though I didn't get to hear him much.  Rest in peace, a life well played.
