It looks like the OP is looking for advice on the new Ranger, wish I could comment but I had a 2007 4L, 5sp. We loved that truck.  We had a 4:10 rear end and pulled a lot with it. It's body started going but we didn't undercoat it enough. It just didn't have the weight/stopping power to pull a loaded 6x10 dump trailer either.   It's still on the road though.....
We replaced with a Tacoma.
We enjoy the Taco, and while it's rated for 6500#, and it'll pull that, it's not the greatest feeling on the road.  The 6x10 dump with a cord of green wood (white birch) is likely around 5500-6000# total and the small engine (3.5L with 6sp std) she has to rev to get any power. Not much for low end torque, you've got to rev it.  Just a different way to drive compared to a bigger V6 or V8.
I'd suspect the new Ranger with that boosted little engine would be the same.
Being the same relative size of truck as the Taco, pulling 7500 would likely be something you'd only want to do on level, country roads where you can take your time. A big camper weighing 7500 would be a lot different than a loaded dumper too, for this size of truck!
I was hoping the new Ranger would have been the same as the old one. I'd have bought one again :)

Thanks.  I currently  have a 8k  6 x 10 Cam dump trailer and I know that that could be to much for my old 1500 Silverado with the wrong loader operator . The trailer is still like new and currently is worth more  then I paid for it 3 years ago so most likely I will replace it with a 5 x 8 5k one my dealer  has on the lot that should be a good match.  This engine is supposed  to have the torque range in lower rpms and the transmission does most  of the work. I watched YouTube videos and it looks like it will handle 5k towing in the Rockies no problem.  The issue was a 18 gallon  tank of fuel doesn't last long towing. Can't  find much information on them besides YouTube videos. On the forums they seem to be well liked and also some problem ones like any model. Surprised there aren't  many on the forum with one.

21 incher  Its funny in my area you can't pull into any sized parking and not see a ton of F-150 Ecoboost four door pickups. The acreage and the town folks have bought the heck out of them. About two years ago a guy I used to work with give me a call and asked if I needed a second truck his Sister in law dad had passed and had a 2011 F-150 four door with 20,000 miles on it and the first question I had is it a Ecoboost. He said I will check. It had the 5.0. I bought the truck and its been a great truck. Several friends of mine that were died hard ford truck guys after owning a Ecoboost in a F-150 have turned into F-250 or Chevy or Ram guys to get back to a V-8 engine. I know a few salesmen that have ran the Ecoboost in the F-150 and really like them. I guess I am from the old school and I want a V-8 in my full sized pickup. I hope all works out well with the Ranger.

I have owned v8 trucks all my life. The last 7 new trucks I bought were big, heavy, V8 gas guzzlers.  I looked for a 5.0 f150 and they seem to come from Canada with the truck convoy disrupting the supply. I need to keep this truck under 50k out the door after buying a new Forester Touring for my wife for her 70th birthday so the f150 is no longer an option. Being without  a truck for the first time in my life is scary and the supply is limited now that means taking a chance on what you can find or doing without.

The 99 4wd 3.0 Flex fuel ranger has been driving me nuts. It sounds way too advanced but there is no way to "time" these engines. You set it up static and then the computer does the thinking, or not. Pretty much unloaded the parts cannon on the ignition stuff. Searching this morning, apparently there was a tech service bulletin out on them, they get stupid and think they are running on E85, which I don't think has ever been in it. Apparently, the solution is to run E85 and take a huge ding in mileage (plus the 50 mile round trip to get it), or, get a new computer that they have... retarded the timing on  ::). What pray tell was wrong with a 9/16 wrench, a little lead footing up a hill and it was dialed. No really I love Fords  :D

Well interest will be up next year, so unless you have cash, that could be a consideration. But there may not even be any available for months in the first place. I can't see a week long disruption affecting supply 2 months later. NY is not far from southern Ontario. Gotta blame them nefarious truckers. ;)

The Windsor plant makes  the 5.0 Coyote and 7.3 truck engines  I am told. They had parts  shortages during  the convoy and just this week shut down again due to running  out of chips. They just can't  crank enough  5.0s out now. Ford is now adding  a big battery plant to Windsor for electric  vehicles as gas engine production is being reduced and eventually eliminated in 13 years. A build with  a 5.0 is out 6 months min now.
My Ranger is sitting in Michigan waiting for a ride to NY. Was built last week but trucking is backed up and could take 2 weeks. Low man on the totem pole always gets blamed for everything.

Yup, that's certainly the narrative on this side of the border. ::)
