I forget what thread there was talk about country stores that were also Post Offices.  Anyway, there is still one of them seven miles from where I live.  There used to be several more within a ten mile radius, but this one is still in operation.

Since Covid, their business, and inventory has dwindled.

The town of Norwich Vt has one of the best true country stores left.
If they don't have you don't need.
It's a destination for local and afar.
They had to cut hour because of staffing issues .
Folks in town couldn't take it and started volunteering to work shifts to keep it open.
You can Google the story good read .

The pall mall general store on the TN Ky border reminds me of errands with my grandparents.   The rockin chair tracks are deep into the roughcut floor and old men sit around all day keepin em shiny.

Whatcha Sawin' 2021 ?? in Sawmills and Milling

Tom,

This is where we started talking about small post offices and country stores over in the Whatcha Sawing thread. I love to visit in an old style country store.

We went to Ecuador for a trip on the Amazon and the entrance to the Cuyabeno Park and it was like that. They had everything people in the community wanted and needed because there was no other source within 100 miles or so. They even had a restaurant and I think had rooms or at least cots for rent.

Still a few around here. One even a huge drug store chain, Shopper's Drug Mart. When I lived down there, my parcels were all at the drug store. The lady would ask what was in them 50 lb square boxes.  Yarn, I said. ;D

There are plenty of country stores around here, but this is the last one I know of that also is a working Post Office.
