Tuesday I was milling a maple crotch and heard the distinctive sound of my customer preparing to give me $30 for a new blade. Then to my surprise, we dug an old thermostat out of that crotch.

"the distinctive sound of my customer preparing to give me $30 for a new blade", that line cracked me up😂 Inflation is getting to where a blade is going to have to go up to $35😑
Too many irons in the fire

I have hit rocks in crotches too.  My blades are now $45 which covers my down time while making the unscheduled blade change.

Been $50 for hitting metal for 3 years now.Still hear "oh no there isn't any metal in this tree"
But they will then grab the metal detector I furnish and go to work looking.
Not 100% but sure helps

It never ceases to amaze me at what people leave to grow into a crotch of a tree!

I once sawed through a doll in a walnut crotch.

Here is a garden hose nozzle in a maple.

DanG, I was needing one of those just last week.  I could have used it.  Nothing wrong that won't buff out.
YellowHammerisms:

Take steps to save steps.

If it won't roll, its not a log; it's still a tree.  Sawmills cut logs, not trees.

Kiln drying wood: When the cookies are burned, they're burned, and you can't fix them.

Sawing is fun for the first couple million boards.

Be smarter than the sawdust
