Hi all,

I recently picked up a Tree Farmer c4d log forwarder and am trying to track down the owner/service manual, but not having much luck. It is a 1986 with a 4 cylinder Deutz.

I'm looking to confirm the maintenance schedule/routine service that will be needed to keep things running smoothly.

Thanks!

Welcome to the Forestry Forum.

What are the plans for putting it to work?

Hope to see it at work soon.  Or hear more about getting it ready for work.

Good looking machine 8) 8)  I had one just like it.  No issues.  But be aware that the Centrax axles are hard to get parts for.  The guy that bought mine had to source an entire axle assembly from Nova Scotia to get what he needed.  It was recommended to me that the planetaries be rotated side to side to keep them wearing even to increase longevity.  The Deutz engines are tough and efficient.  Main tranny is a Ford truck model with reverse locked out.

Thanks for the welcome! It currently runs and the plan is to use it for some clean-up after a recent tornado went through our farm. The service manual is desired as I'm sure we will run into issues down the line.

I've been checking eBay frequently but haven't seen anything yet. Seems like the service/owner's manual is a rare artifact. Anybody have any other ideas for tracking a copy down?

Woodland Equipment in Iron River, MI was a long time dealer. You might want to check with them.

Thanks for the recommendations! Reached out to both to see if they can help with getting the manual or provide some info on their tune-up process.

New filters, new oil, fix any leaks, get brake working. grease the EDITED BY ADMIN KNOCK IT OFF out of it. Replace any sloppy pins and bushings. Take covers off bed of bunk get that driveshaft new ujoints. Send er in dah bush you’ll be fine. Don’t over rev that motor not needed I run mine 1/4 - 1/2 and it’s pretty fast on running hydraulics at that throttle speed. Enjoy it that’s a beautiful piece of equipment you got there! Lots of help on here where to acquire parts I’ve herd of guys swapping axles out and planetarys but I haven’t ran into a issue yet. As I knock my table. Change fluid keep it clean. Stay safe out there god bless
