Since new my lt 40 wide will make wavy cut while using the debarker on log over 12 " wide on the opening cuts on the round part of the log.
Don't use the debarker and the cuts are flat.
If you have a 2 sided can't and use the debarker it cuts flat.
What I'm I missing?

I've seen opening cuts sometimes wave even when the blade should be  sharp. I think it happens when there are widely varying widths of both total wood and especially heartwood down the length of the cut.

Can't explain what the debarkker would have to do with it.

Is your debarker aligned perfectly with the blade.  Steve

Bruno, are they blade chatter waves or actual waves in the board? I've got the blade chatter thing going on that I'm trying to figure out. I have noticed it nearly always happens when sawing at a live edge, which where I would be using the debarker. It will happen randomly throughout the cant too. Guess I have something else to check too.

I get waves in opening cuts in pine a lot of times. The cut width can vary wildly, but I think it has more to do with the fact that the outside of the log gets really dry. Once you get in a cut or two the moisture is more consistent.

I don't know what causes it, but I do notice similar results. I run slower on my opening cuts than I do while cutting the cant.
With the right fulcrum and enough leverage, you can move the world!

I'm mostly Sawing 36" to 46" pine at the moment.
It would be nice to use the debarker but can't.

I am not understanding that the debarker could have anything to do with what the saw blade does.

I can understand that you might get waves when opening a 36" - 46" log but that would not be caused by the debarker.  That would be a sawmill or more probably a blade issue.  36"+ is a lot of wood to pull a blade through.  :o

Could it be that the debarker is trying to climb over the log? Someone else posted about a similar problem and I believe the solution was to reverse the motor rotation. I guess if you did that you would also have to turn the blade over?

I believe that the debarker on the Wide mill is set up differently than mine/ours.

My thoughts are that the waves when opening the 36"-46" are more about the width of the cut rather than debarker caused, but that is just me thinking.  ??

When I did the debarker upgrade I did have to reverse the leads and put in a new mandrel? with reversed threads.
