Board Feet Log Results Using Various Rules

buyer says they will use whatever log rule I choose when they scale my load of logs.  From the website above that compares several rules, it appears if I select the Brereton rule, I get 30-50% more bdft than any of the others.  How can this be?

I see now that Brereton doesn't allow for sawdust because it simply converts cu ft of the log into board feet.  If you use DIB at the small end then I guess it would allow for taper.  I will be surprised if they (AMEX) let's me choose this rule.

Is a fancy log scale going to make a difference? They are just going to adjust the price per foot to make up for the difference in footage.

one of the big tricks up north was everyone used Ontario log rule for a scale and that scale starts at the 3/4 inch mark so 12 inches starts at 11 3/4 inch  so instead of using the proper scale stick they would just use one of those 4 ft wooden rules so they went off the full inch mark, that 1/4 inch difference makes a big difference and not just on the scale but on the grade of the logs cause if you had logs at the bottom of the higher paying grades now you would not get that price

just use 1/4" international your not going to beat the mill.
