Sawguy  Sorry for your loss. We have had many dogs over the last forty plus years on the farm most were from the pound or dogs folks dumped out. All good dogs and missed when they passed. It been a few years now with no dogs. About fifteen years ago we ended up with two kittens someone dumped on our road. They ended up being house cats. We called them the twins. One was orange and one gray and white. Loss the grey and white one two years ago with cancer and the orange one in June. Still miss them. They become a part of your life.

Sorry that you lost your dog, and now missing a piece of your life. I'm sure with time you will adopt a new buddy to give you fulfillment once again. Keep your chin up.

@sawguy21 Very sorry that you lost your buddy, know well what you are going through. It will take a while but soon you'll remember only the good times with your furry partner. Everyone is different when it comes to looking for a new companion pup, some do it right away, we are of the give it some time mentally. Sending good thoughts your way..

Don't think of the rescue as a replacement, more like a soul that needs a home.

Get another cat / dog is now legit medical advice for people that are feeling down over the loss of a pet. It's totally understandable to feel really down over the loss of a treasured companion animal. But the best medication a Dr can prescribe is probably to adopt a new one.
